Seiklushunt: Vägilase Jooks 2025

The goal of the Kiviõli video was to create a visual style inspired by Wes Anderson's films. To achieve this, I closely studied his work to understand how he utilizes music, editing, and camerawork. I then created a written storyboard, mapping out ideas that could realistically be executed within the limited shooting time. Thanks to this thorough preparation, the editing process was fast, as the entire video had been thought out in detail before filming even began. In several scenes, I used compositing to combine footage shot at different times into a single frame. For example: three men lifting tires were filmed at different times; two men clearing a plank wall were filmed separately and later merged into one scene; a competitor running with logs was filmed in two locations nearly a hundred meters apart to create the illusion of a much shorter distance.

The Rummu stage video was based on a "one-take" style, aiming to give the impression that the entire video was captured in a single continuous shot. The transitions were not just hidden cuts. I used extensive masking and other editing techniques to achieve them. To make this work, several shots had to be refilmed on set so that the transitions would look natural and seamless. However, not all transitions turned out perfect, as the technical limitations in certain situations were simply too great.

The inspiration for the Lähte stage came from the fifth episode of Westworld's third season, where the main character perceives the world through different film genres. I applied the same concept to this video, assigning different obstacles of the race to different genres. For example: the start is in a Western style; the mud pit is inspired by Godzilla movies; the ring obstacle and the adjacent mud pit are in a horror movie style; followed by a musical, a comic book, a silent film, an adventure film, a war movie, and finally, a romance film. For each genre, I did extensive research to find the most characteristic visual techniques.
